So here's something a little different, in what I believe is the first mid-season finale in podcasting history. Mind you, I have no idea what the hell a mid-season finale is for a podcast, but Jake had the idea and we ran with it. Anyway, in this thrilling episode, the dorks binge themselves on the latest geek news before debating who they'd want to fight an angry horde of zombies with. Follow along with us in this episode and listen to the dorks slur their way through all of the latest geek news. Wince as one dork broadcasts while still in convalescence, one dork brings the show to a new high (or perhaps a new low... We're still not sure...), and the other dork laughs at - not with - the first two As always, be sure to subscribe to us on iTunes and give us that golden "5-Star Rating", follow us on Facebook, check out our Wordpress Site and give us some feedback by emailing us at drunkendorkpodcast@gmail.com Copyright 2014 Thomas Coe, Jacob Wilson & Travis Adle Music Courtesy of Jackson F. We haven't really talked a whole lot about "The Walking Dead" on the podcast, but nevertheless, it's one of Jake and Tom's favorite show currently on the air. And Travis... Well... He's certainly aware of it's existence.
Anyways - In this episode, the dorks talk about the show's eagerly awaited Season 05 Premiere, "No Sanctuary". Their expectations were high, to say the least. This is an interesting episode in that I honestly thought it was lost. It was originally recorded in January of 2014, while we here in Lower Michigan were still digging our way out of the storm that has come to be known as "Snowmageddon". Shortly after recording it, I was editing it on my desktop when the computer suddenly died. I told my fellow dorks that the episode was gone with the computer, and we all decided to move on.
Flash forward eight months, and I have a new lapptop hooked up to an older external hard drive I hadn't used in a few months and I found a backup of this episode that I had completely forgotten about. Unfortunately, the audio leaves a little to be desired. However, in my opinion this is one of our funnier episodes and there are enough gems in it to warrant publishing it, warts and all.
By the way, as long as I have your attention, be sure to like us on Facebook and email us at drunkendorkpodcast@gmail.com We're dying to hear from you folks!

It never fail to amaze me how celebrities - people we most likely will never meet in real life - Sometimes effect our lives in profound ways. Our parents, our friends, our family and our loved ones are supposed to be the people who shape our world and the way we look at it. Yet sometimes, the people who entertain us also contribute to the way we go through life in ways that surpass mere "entertainment". That's when one of those strangers who we feel have been with us for nearly our whole life passes suddenly, the only word that seems appropriate is "grief". It's shocking enough when someone like George Carlin has an unexpected heart attack or Christopher Reeve succumbs to the cumulated effects of his injuries. But when the world found out that one of the peole who spent most of the last four decades bringing it so much joy suffered from a depression that resulted in him taking his own life, that grief was amplified that much more. I suppose if there were two things I would want to express in the wake of Robin William's death, it would be 1) If you are suffering from depression, **PLEASE** seek help. The world is a much better place with you along for the ride. and 2) It's my hope that Robin Williams's legacy isn't that of a "tortured artist". He spent his career making us laugh. And while I can't claim to have met the man, let alone having known him, it's my belief that he would want us to remember him as someone who made us smile and feel happy to be alive.

We live in a world where the #1 movie of Summer, 2014 stars a talking, gun-toting raccoon and his walking tree of a sidekick I'll say it again: We live in a world where the #1 movie of Summer, 2014 stars a talking, gun-toting raccoon and his walking tree of a sidekick. On this episode of the show, we have the first in what we hope will be a series of "Before & After" reviews. We begin with Jake & Tom sharing what is quite possibly the worst breakfast combo the Western World has ever seen. Jake has seen the movie, while Tom hasn't. Following this, we cut ahead a few hours after the boys have gotten back, having freshly seen the flick, and they share their immediate thoughts on it. SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! In this latest episode, Jake, Tom and returning guest-host talk about one of this summer's biggest movies, "X-Men: Days of Future Past". While all of the dorks agree that this was easily the best entry into the franchise, one dork in particular dork in particular couldn't help but embrace the geek stereotype and act like an over-analytical prick

The Drunken Dork Podcast Episode 08: The Giant Sized Drunken Dork 2013 End of Year Super Holiday Special
Well, 2013 is almost in the books. And as far as geek culture was concerned, it was a helluva year and the Drunken Dorks do their best to cover as much of it as they can. And like all holiday specials, they talk about the highs, the lows and their hopes for the new year. Hell, they even close the show with a musical number, of sorts... This was one of those movies that it seemed liked everyone had an opinion. In this episode, we discuss the latest entry into the Star Trek movie franchise, and actually get into a bit of a debate where one of the dorks liked it, one despised it and the other sulks quietly in the corner while nursing a hangover.

In case you didn't hear, we are no longer getting a Superman/Batman movies. DC Comics and Warner Brothers blew fanboys minds when they announced that we will also be getting the first big screen appearance of a certain Amazonian Princess, as well.
Which leads to more questions than answers. What can we expect for a plot? How will this affect the anticipated Justice League movie? Will the television shows that DC is producing be brought into the fold?
Join us as we explore these topics, discuss the various stages of our Batfleck related grief/nerd-rage, overcome various technical difficulties & over analyze the lyrics of some truly god-awful Christmas carols.

In this episode, not only do we usher in our new co-host, Travis, but we approach a subject most comic book fans view with either contempt or affection: Crossovers.
Are there too many of them? What are the best ways for publishers to present these Mega-Events to their readers? What do we feel are the best examples of this type of story? Is Jake the only person on Earth who still has a shred of respect for Darkhawk?? Was it wise of us to slam several Irish Car Bombs prior to recording this episode??

Welcome to the year 2023. Tom is on his 3rd liver, Travis is a successful billionaire and Jake is dead. How are we reading our comics? Do we even still have a choice in how we get them. In 2013 we had print, digital, and trades. Content? Will we still have 10+ Avengers books? Will Batman and Wolverine still be in 30 books between the two of them? Are we still going to be so heavily focused on the same characters that we have for decades already, or will there be an insurgence of new characters? Indie vs Big Two? Currently, Marvel and DC take about 75% of the market place, while the independent publishers fight over the scraps. What do we think it will look like in 10 years? There has been a lot growth in the indie market with books like Walking dead. We have even seen books like Hellboy and 300 turn into movie franchises. Could we see the emergent of a Big Third company? Movies? I have no doubt that comics will still be made into movies “that may or may not be seen in movie theaters Tom”. But will the Superhero movies finally be a thing of the past? Like westerns or hopefully romantic vampire movies? Comic cons. We have seen amazing growth in Cons over the past few years. Heavily influenced by movies and our society finally embracing pop culture and all around geekiness. What is the next natural step? Cosplay cons, where its just a big dress up. Washed up actor/wrestler cons. Or will the bubble burst and we have to go back to flee markets where everything smells like caramel corn? And the big scary question. Will they even bother. Now that both the big 2 are owned by such huge company’s like Disney and Warner Brothers, will they continue to make comics? In the long run, comics are barely a drop in the bucket for there bottom line. They don’t need to keep making comics in order to make cartoons and movies.
